Overview

This project adds breadth to the existing public cotton EST resources, based on an additional ~45,000 cDNA sequence reads two very different cDNA libraries from a diploid D-genome G. raimondii. The first cDNA library (GR__Ea) was derived from RNA isolated from whole seedlings which had produced their first true leaves. The second cDNA library (GR__Eb) was derived from RNA isolated from bulked -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, and +3 floral developmental stages (images below). Our sequencing efforts resulted in 33,671, and 35,061 (68,732 total) high quality reads, respectively. The sequences complement the A- and AD-genome cotton ESTs already available. All of the cDNA clones and D-genome derived sequences (also available in Genbank) are available upon request.

Sequence data is also available from our custom EST browser named PAVE (Program for Assembling and Viewing ESTs). PAVE allows the user to query assemblies of individual libraries or all the libraries together, and search the contigs or ESTs with a user supplied sequence. PAVE is currently under development and the assemblies are subject to change without notice (though the current assembly is usually good for a couple weeks at a time).
